Some people carry a large number of genetic variants that impact their response to different medications, while other people inherited fewer of these genetic variants. As a result, some people have more individualized drug recommendations than others.
The cannabis section of the report is based on the detection of 68 gene variants that have been shown impact people’s responses to cannabis products. Some individuals will carry many of these 68 variants and will therefore have a long list of individualized recommendations related to cannabis use, while others carry few of them and will therefore have fewer individualized recommendations.
(Note: research in pharmacogenetics is ongoing, and Inagene's reports are updated every 6 months to reflect important new gene-drug discoveries/information. As a result, new recommendations and medications are typically added to our report each year.)
